Discworld

marici - Discworld elephants, entertainment.

As Great A'Tuin swam through space, Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon and Jerakeen told each other stories massive and cosmically slow-moving, full of wisdom and sadness and elephants much smaller than they; there was not much else to do to pass the time.

neotoma - Sam Vimes & Death, apricots

Vimes glared suspiciously at the basket of fruits forming the centrepiece of Death's dinner table. He had never seen black oranges that weren't in an advanced state of decay before.

"Are you sure I can eat these?" he said. A stray recollection flitted across his mind. "I won't be doomed to stay here for six months every year if I try one of these apricots, will I?"

Death registered faint puzzlement.

AH. NO, he said. NO. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU HAVE CARE OF THE STRAWBERRIES, THOUGH.

"Why? What would happen if I ate them?"

I BELIEVE IT IS CALLED DIARRHEA, said Death.

kamuishokuto - Sam Vimes and - hm - doughnuts.

"But what," said Vimes, glaring at the pastry as if he'd caught it at a crime scene, "is the hole for?"

melata_fic - Susan and Adora Belle, edge.

"I won't say anything about your name if you won't say anything about the, um," said Susan.

"The scythe on your head?"

"-- Yes," said Susan. She paused.

It's difficult to make civilised conversation when your hair is in the shape of a farming implement. It gives rise to too many uncomfortable questions.

"Isn't it difficult to sharpen the edge with it at that angle?" said Adora Belle.

Granted, that question usually wasn't one of them.
